Yay for Friday!!! I've been checking the followers and I am 9 away from 200!!! In the meantime...I just left our grade level meeting where I shared this little document. We used this to begin planning and I thought others might find it useful. Even though planning is not very exciting, this has really helped us to get started. Click on the picture below to check it out!!
What a great resource! Thanks for sharing! :) The fourth grade team will be getting our district ready for the common core this upcoming year!

Good Luck Lisa! It's quite a daunting task and is very overwhelming!! : )
ReplyDeleteDoes your district/school require you to use the gates model? We are lucky and can implement the common core standards with whatever text/curriculum we want.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of the gates model. We have a list of "suggested" text but since they aren't buying us new materials, we can pretty much use what we have at our school. So, I guess it's a more site based decision.
ReplyDeleteThe gates model is where the predetermined units like "a season for chapters" came from. A school district somewhere created these units using the common core standards. Unfortunately a lot of schools think that these units are the common core which of course they are not. Just the new standards are the core. Nice idea plan for making sure to include all the core standards in teaching :) Congrats on 200 followers!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! We too are using the CommonCore.org units. Have you created these for the other five units? THANK YOU for sharing!
